You may think that it was a simple production, but it did not.

In fact we took about four months of production, beginning in December 2006 and finalizing the teaser for mid-April 2007.

We made a lot of concept based on the ideas of Don Oriolo, chatting a lot about the likely scenarios for a possible TV series.

It’s never easy starting on a long journey despite the desire to change the things, especially if you’re talking about changing a historical character, the first animated character in the history of animation, Felix The Cat

We also did a short test animation in February 2007, shown in New Jersey directly to Mike and Don Oriolo.

It was difficoult keep the proportions required by the american’s graphic bible that was refered about the 2D Felix.

And also to maintain the roundness of Felix’s head all around the 360 degrees. Therefore I did a hard work for some expressions because it is a character with big eyes and a wide mouth and I could move the polygons with just the use of blendshapes and deformers and without a dedicated facial system.

As I was responsible for the technical study on the 3d model and the modelling phase, I spent a week in USA, working on the character and finalizing it with Don and Mike.

I slept for several days in the guest room located inside the studio, surrounded by Felix’s world.

I hope one day to meet again this wonderful cat.

It was an amazing experience.
